ESA Summer 2019 - First Round of Accepts/"Cuts" and moving forward
News
Once again, a massive thank you for all your ESA Summer 2019 submissions. The overall quality is incredibly high, making decisions very difficult and it cannot be stressed enough how much we appreciate that. The last three weeks haven’t been easy, but we made it through every single one of your submissions and are now able to present the first batch of accepted games.
Stats
Here are some beautiful numbers to distract you from the grief about all the rejected games:
Total hours submitted: ~ 1220 (That’s over 75% more than last year!)
Total hours accepted: ~ 145
Total hours rejected: ~ 675
Total hours still pending: ~ 400
Total hours required to fill the marathon: ~ 230 (+-10, depending on average run length, setup times necessary etc.)
The status quo
All the submissions that are accepted will be part of the marathon.
All the games that are still “Saved” will be reviewed again during the time leading up to the schedule release on May 27th.
All the games/categories that are rejected will not show up in the first schedule drafts of either stream, but will still be considered as backups. We will once again give out reasons for these decisions. Contact us through Discord (info below). Please keep in mind that it might take us a while to answer, but we’ll do our best to get back to you.
Moving forward
If one of your submissions got accepted and you haven’t done so yet, make sure to get a ticket and plan your travels. You’ll find all the necessary information in the General Info Post.
The purpose of the time between now and the release of the schedule is to allow runners to improve all aspects about their submission while also giving us the possibility to look closer at each individual game.
You can still edit your profile as well as your submission to keep us up to date about your progress or add donation incentives and bid wars. Make sure to edit your submission should your estimate change, if you have a new video to show off or new information about your run.
If you let us know about your availability at the event through your profile in the submissions tool we’ll make sure to be mindful of that when creating the schedule.
As already stated in the original post about the submission process, we will reopen game submissions for chase games and unreleased games (info here) again during Thursday, May 23rd and (including) Friday, May 24th.
We will once again stream the reveal of the first schedule draft and originally planned to do so on May 26th. However, due to a marathon running on our channel we will reschedule the schedule to May 27th. Let everybody know!
