ESA announces Save the Children as charity beneficiary for winter event
European Speedrunner Assembly is pleased to announce the beneficiary of ESA Winter 2020 fundraising as global humanitarian organization Save the Children.
ESA Winter will run from 15 to 22 February 2020 in the Quality Hotel View, Malmö. Attracting over 200 speedrunners from Europe and worldwide, last year this event raised $30,000 for the cause. This year ESA hopes to smash that total with our best ever selection of games and speedrunners including The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and SNES Classic Chrono Trigger.
About European Speedrunner Assembly
ESA events are festivals of speedrunning. The core of the festival is the video game marathon - a week long, 24-hour telethons streamed on Twitch.tv celebrating the art of speedrunning. During the stream viewers at home are invited to donate to a charitable cause and can interact with the event by naming characters, choosing cosmetic items and influencing game difficulty.
ESA has been fundraising for Save the Children since 2016 and has raised over $200,000 for their global effort.
